Sasha & Spooky provide Addiction   Mentor Kolektiv double debut
Sasha w Blue Spooky overlay

Spooky provide Strange Addiction, their second .di track, already downloadable, but this time, with the added talent of Sasha on the remix side. Spooky, aka Charlie May and Duncan Forbes, made a name for themselves in the early days of progressive house. Sasha is known for being the first to produce club-branded albums and is currently the most sought-after club DJ in the world. These two artists are both ripe with street cred, and have also decided that their fans should have something extra, a chance to remix a remix, and a winner walking away with some booty. Regarding this effort, Sasha said, “I’ve been excited as always to work with Spooky. Using Digimpro’s software has been perfect for adding my ideas to Spooky’s original work.”

Mentor Kolektiv's new single, Broke, is soon to be available in .di format. It features AC’s humour-fuelled tales of rapping for food and surviving on air in the world’s most expensive city. Pasand will also soon be released in .di format. Other Kolektiv members include award-winning producer Mentor (Jay Sean, Timbaland), rapper AC, Punjabi vocalist Des-C and 2Point9/Kiss FM mix DJ Mr Mak. This is the Kolektiv’s first official outing, since their hit Volume 1 mixtape.

Lotek Hi-Fi’s upbeat
party music arrives on .di
  The Young Knives
— anything but Knaves
Lotek on the Steps

There was a certain song on this year’s debut Lotek Hi-Fi LP that was literally a 3.5 minute party-in-a-box. It had expensive drinks, dancing, flirting, monumental bass, and even taxis to and from the venue. Even it’s name consisted of one simple, commanding party instruction: Move Your Thing. But there’s more. Also .di-powered will be the track Showdown. “Psychedelic sunshine, booty-shaking, dancefloor hogging enjoyment. Top stuff.” – Ice, Album of the Month

    Young Knives in suburbia

The Young Knives have recently signed a publishing deal with BMG, hooked up with the Transgressive label (who have released records by The Subways and The Mystery Jets), and decided to make a .di track. Here Comes The Rumour Mill is expected to storm the indie scene when it’s released in February. Henry Dartnall describes it: “It’s about voyeurism or, certainly, observing other humans in too much detail.” Gang Of Four’s Andy Gill flipped over their demo and produced their debut EP.

Chart topper Hi_Tack
[Gut Records] signs up
  Sophisticated house
outta the EU capital
Hi_Tack sleeve

After topping both the Upfront and Commerical Pop Charts in the UK with their remix, and becoming a dance hit sensation over much of Europe, High_Tack continues to be experimental in their sound and promotional technique, as the underscore in their name suggests. New to the .di format with Say, Say, Say, original by none other than musical heavyweights Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney, they have even pushed to include Digimpro’s remix tool as a goodie inside their Club Nights CD.

Lamotte split with neon and performance

From humble beginnings, animating a pirate radio station, this Belgian duo is now all about house. Chateau Lamotte, comprising Phil Good and Phil Bad, take pride in mixing experimental, classical, drum n bass, disco, funk, jazz and pop. Do they pull it off? Music media in Holland, Belgium, Switzerland and France, say yes, they go beyond dance and into moods. Soon, you can select from three .di tracks: shut it, shining and boogie on you, and judge yourself. But don’t stop there. Experiment to see how different feelings can be altered when you remix.

DJ Amb expands his beat   Dierks & Mester unlock the past
DJ Ambrus

DJ Amb soon releases Bit in the .di format. He is responsible for one of the most remarkable break tracks of 2002, Romeo, which was nominated and eventually came second on Breakspoll (the International Breakbeat Awards best-single category) in 2003. When he’s not producing dance music for Chi Recordings, he puts on his mastering suit or makes soundtracks for commercials and film.

    Dierks in Stockholm sluice

Stockholm-based Michael Dierks, with classical guitarist Sander Mester, has agreed to create the first musical experience of its kind. Michael is resident organist at Tyska Kyrkan, located in Stockholm’s Gamla Stan. Michael will improvise a JS Bach song using his organ — but this is no typical church organ: grounded in a 16th-century gothic cathedral, the organ produces echo, reverb and power. Multiple variations of the song will be captured by recording specialists, structured into the .di format, and made available by February 10, 2006.

Enlightening Journeys from
Public Symphony
Spiral: Trying to emulate the improv experience
Public Symphony alb_cvr

Public Symphony, known for their soundscape songs and enlightening journeys, brings their sound to the .di format. IndieNewsLive said about them: “An enlightening journey…these guys could be the next Coldplay!” Digimpro will soon release Touch, a top tune from their debut album. MusicChoice called it a world-class debut album. Their potential has been compared to Massive Attack and Pink Floyd.

    Olah Szabolcs Quartet

Don’t be surprised by the large file size of Olah Szabolcs Quartet’s new song: Spiral. This Hungarian jazz band’s studio session was assisted by Tamás Gresiczki, the former sound engineer for Depeche Mode, John Patitucci (Chick Corea Band Bassist) and manager at Aquarium Studios. The theme and improvisations can go on for hours, as a visual spiral. Band leader Olah said, “I have been frustrated for years because my live improvisations can never be saved by musical recordings, a one-time, one-shot experience.” He added, “Now, someone can improvise with it and loop it endlessly, as if it were a full jam out at the end of a concert in a small smoky bar.” You wont be sorry you took the time to download this.
