Something Different?
ASVM Productions offers business consulting, editing and education services for video production, new-media internet development (e.g., video for 3G technologies) and project management. We are interested in specifically providing these skills to new sustainability-oriented businesses. For example, we would like to help businesses interested in producing and distributing health foods, creating alternative energy solutions and any other company that is interested in taking one company's waste and using it as a raw material.
What motivates us to come to work?
The solution to sustainability problems is not the need for new philosophies or ideology. What we need is an awakening. We need to be mindful of what the problems are and of what the current situation is, particularly in those aspects of life where we have the most influence, such as the home and work. We need to be calm and communicative and to know how to say no, even as we are in a society and business structure that makes so many of us feel disposable and replaceable.
None of us are either disposable or replaceable. Why is our business literature, cafeteria talk and water-cooler one-liners reinforcing this chatter? How is this chatter making this negativity a reality -- by making it more difficult for each of us to reverse it in our own lives? How are we embedding these thoughts when we are helping our children get through their own difficult time periods with learning, responsibility, freedom and expression?
Our products and business culture need to encourage us to rediscover our deepest nature: those things which make us unique. This should not be reserved to activities in kindergarten, or self-help books that we pick up once our health problems have brought us to our knees. It need not happen this way.
The destruction of the human race can only be avoided by a re-awakening of the spirit in our cultural activities. Unfortunately, this will not come from the Great Society or Socialism, some say. ASVM says, "That is perfect." Because now, finally, we have the historic opportunity to do this for ourselves, as individuals. And with our success and progress, we have only our own merits and stuggles to be thankful for.
